Richard Laferrière holds a Bachelor degree of Science from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, an honorary degree from École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal as Bâtisseur du Québec in 1995 and a nomination as Bâtisseur of the 20th century by Commerce magazine in 1999. Since January 2015, Mr. Laferrière also has Executive Coach training from Coaching de Gestion, Associate Certified Coach (ACC), and is a member of ICF Québec and the ICF (International Coach Federation).

From 1978 to 1999, Richard Laferrière was the co-founder and President and CEO of Groupe Coscient, a TV and film production company with subsidiaries in France and the United States, with revenues in excess of $100,000,000 and more than 250 employees. Groupe Coscient was the first Canadian producer to list on the stock market.From February 1995 to November 2011 Chairman of the Board of Warnex a company listed on the TSX specialized in biotechnology.

From 1999 to 2000, Richard Laferrière worked as a consultant with Innovatech-Chaudières-Appalaches for companies in his portfolio. And from 2000 to 2006 he was a member of the board of HR Stratégie, a fund management firm.

From 2000 to December 2008, Richard Laferrière held the position of President and CEO of FRV Média, a company specializing in the international distribution and production of TV and film content. FRV Média employed more than 100 employees.

From May 2009 to the december 2015, Richard Laferrière sits as Executive Chairman of the Board for Extenway Solutions Inc., a company listed on the TSX Venture exchange, specializing in medical IT in the healthcare sector. Solutions Extenway has more than 30 employees.

From March 2008 to august 2015, board member of Fronsac Capital Inc., a real estate investment trust listed on the TSX Venture exchange.From November 2008 to August 2010 member of GDG Environment Board of director , a center of expertise for environmental solutions to quality of life issues

From 2008 to 2011 Richard Laferrière was a member of the board of QBIC, the Quebec Biotechnology Innovation Centre. Since 2013, Richard has also been a member of the Local Advisory Committee for the TSX Venture Exchange. 

From 2000 to 2005 Richard Laferrière was a board member of the Canada Council for the Arts, and from 2005 to 2006 was a member of their Investment Committee. From 2007 to 2011 Richard sat on the board of directors for Hôpital Charles-Lemoyne.

From 1996 to the present, member of the YPO-WPO (World President Organisation) representing more than 8000 Presidents at the international level. He is an ambassador and member in good standing with this organization. In 2009 Richard was president of the WPO's Quebec Chapter.
